Tameka Wembley Obituary

Tameka Malcolm Wembley was born on July 11, 1971, from the union of Joanna Malcolm and the late Robert Malcolm. She attended PS # 40 School (Ezra L. Nolan). She graduated from Henry Snyder High School in 1991. She graduated with her Associates Degree from Hudson County Community College. Throughout her career, she has worked for various companies including, Vonage Telecommunications, HESS Gas Corporation, IDT Corporation. She has been an employee with MACY’S for over 15 years. She ended her career with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield located in Newark, NJ. Tameka was a loving and outgoing person. She loved her family and was very close to them, she was family oriented.

Tameka would go over and beyond. She is someone you could confide in and was always a problem solver no matter what the situation was. She was known to her family as Meeky and to her friends as Meka. She thoroughly enjoyed numerous activities. She loved to go to the Sight and Sound Theatre for all of the Biblical plays in Lancaster, PA. Every time there was a new show she was always in attendance. Her other activities included Movies, whether at a cinema or in the comfort of her own home. Dining out was her all-time favorite. Tameka would be the go to person for restaurant suggestions, locations and any type of food imaginable. She was definitely a food Connoisseur. She also loved Tricky Trays, wherever there was an event you could always find Tameka there. She was an avid winner and always came home with a trunk full of prizes. She loved them so much that she even hosted a few at her church as a Fundraiser. She also loved taking drives to the Casinos, making it a weekend getaway. Her biggest and most exciting hobby was Shopping! Tameka, loved to shop and always did it big. She was a bulk shopper of everything, from clothing, food, shoes, appliances, you name it Tameka had it. Black Friday Shopping was her all-time favorite.

Tameka’s other hobbies included traveling, she loved to travel especially to Jamaica. She also loved doing hair. She loved to make wigs sewn or crocheted. She was also known for making her famous gift baskets, whether it was for Baby Showers, Weddings, Bridal Showers etc. Tameka was a member of St. James Baptist church that was located on Orient Avenue in Jersey City, NJ under the leadership of Pastor Michael Thomas. She served as a Missionary on the Missionary Board, she was a Treasurer as well as served as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees. She also worked on the kitchen committee. Wherever she was needed in the church she was always there to assist. She was also a frequent visitor of Trinity Baptist Church in Hackensack, NJ under the leadership of Pastor George Maize. Tameka was an Extraordinary Wife, Mother, Sister and friend she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her Husband Robert Wembley. Her two daughters Taz’mera Malcolm and T’Keyah Wembley. Her mother Joanna Malcolm. Her siblings Madeline Malcolm, Shawn Malcolm and Quanita Malcolm. Her nephew Tiquan Gwyn (Rolanda). Her two Great Nephews Jamir Gwyn and Bryce Gwyn and her Great Niece Zhuri Gwyn.Her Close friends includes Dawn Washington, Latoya Cruz, Magdalene Haywood, Trevecia Davis and Angie Bingham. Her childhood friends that she grew up with known as the “FAB FIVE” includes Kendell (Kim) Harley, Hope Davis, Thais Hart and Latronza (Sheena) Glanton. And a host of Uncles, Aunts cousins (favorite cousin) Donald (Mann) Peterson and sister in law Simone Redmond Tinsley.
