Shonda Lee Mincey(Smith)

Shonda Lee Mincey affectionately known as “Pixie” entered this life on June 8, 1987 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was the youngest of four children. Shonda was educated in the Jersey City School System and as a child she participated in the Unique Steppers and Majestic Steppers. She graduated from Career Academy and later obtained her Cosmetology License from Natural Motion.

Shonda was known for her bigger than life personality and her energy attracted everyone she came in contact with. She was a generous, giving, and loving person who always tried to see the good in people. She was the life of the party, no, she was “The Party!” Shonda was family-oriented and always organized events to bring everyone together. Whether it was a cookout, dinner, vacation, or just a regular week night, Shonda made sure that everyone was litty. She loved the kids and all the kids adored her. If you were fortunate enough to know Shonda, you knew that her world revolved around her children and Pete and lets not forget her dogs. For the last 15 years, Shonda devoted her life to Pete and was eagerly anticipating their wedding on August 9, 2020.

Shonda was a trendsetter with her own unique style when it came to her hair, nails and clothes. She made sure everyone around her was on point because if you weren’t she would definitely let you know. She was also well-known for her fantasy ponytails.  

On January 27, 2020, Shonda departed this life leaving behind a city who loved her.

Shonda is preceded in death by her father Leonard L. Blue, brother Jerome L. Mincey, maternal and paternal grandparents and two aunts Yvette and Dolores aka Lois.

Shonda leaves to cherish her memory, her fiance` Pete Smith, her son Jashawn Clinton, her daughter Aonye` Smith; stepchildren Shaniqua Hart and BreAsia Smith; granddaughter Kali LeGrande; her mother Sharon Mincey; sister Wanda Mincey; brother Donald Mincey; sisters Tacora and Tyshina Gordon; mother-in-law Sharon Smith; father-in-law Cornel Smith; sisters-in-law Shakira Ramsey and Keira Smith; nephews, Dayvon, Tyquan, Jekhi, Bryce, Jace, Jerome aka Fatboy, and Quazy; nieces Tynasia, Morgan, Brielle, Kashmere, Zoey, and Raegan; aunts Louise, Elizabeth, Brenda, Gladys, Malinda and Willie Dean; uncles Ervin, Darryl and Robert; Godmother Denise Snaps; Godchildren Milan, William, and Aaseem; sister-cousins Talisha and Shakira; extended sisters Kristin, Tyeshia, Shamerra, Ebony, Tawanda, Stephanie, and Latisha; favorite cousins Will aka Big Cuddy, Ferarii, and Walley; dear friends Marcus, Dranell and Chance; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family.
