Samuel Barrett Obituary

 

Samuel Tyrone Barrett, affectionately known as “Ty”, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. Born on December 2, 1970, in Newark, NJ, Samuel was the beloved son of Sam and Sarah Barrett and oneof four children.

Samuel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Kean University in Union, NJ. A passionate athlete, he played football during both high school and college, enjoying every moment of the game.

Samuel met and married the love of his life, Robin (Barrett). Together, they built a beautiful family and raised two wonderful children, Jalen and Taylor. He dedicated himself to his career as a commercial driver, always committed to providing for his family. A lifelong fan of football and basketball and one who enjoyed old western movies, a cherished pastime he shared with his father, was one of the many ways he created lasting memories with those he loved.

Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Sam W. Barrett. He leaves behind his loving wife Robin Barrett, his daughter Taylor Barrett, his son Jalen Barrett and granddaughter Thea Barrett.  His mother, Sarah Barrett; a sister and two brothers, Francina (Timothy) Weems, Kenneth Hak (Keshia) Dail and Mark (Rona)Barrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.

Samuel will be deeply missed but remembered with love and gratitude for the life he lived, his charismatic and friendly nature and the joy he brought to those around him.
