Roy Dukes, Jr.

Roy Dukes, Jr.  was born October 2, 1960 in Miami, FL, to Mary Hampton, and the late, Roy Dukes Sr. The family moved to Jersey City, New Jersey in 1963. Roy attended Snyder High School where he excelled as a student. Roy received his diploma in just 3 years.  From an early age, Roy was an ambitious go-getter. He started his professional career at the young age of 16 as an encoder Checks at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank, NY, New York. He then was employed as an encoder at CitiBank in NY, New York. Roy attended Rutgers University (Newark). It was there that he met his wife, Donna. Roy and Donna married on March 4, 1981. Roy is survived by 3 children. Khatira Williams, Muhaymin Dukes, and Najlaa Harris. Roy began his Managerial Career as a Marketing Training Manager at Rent-A-Center, where he stayed with the company for a Decade. In January, 2007, Roy elevated his career during his transition to  Bob’s Discount Furniture, where he started as Store Manager in Totowa, NJ. Roy was promoted to Regional Sales Manager of South Jersey-PA-DE. Roy was nicknamed, “Papa Dukes”, amongst the Bob’s Discount Furniture Family. Roy became a devout Christian on December 14, 2014, becoming a member of Morning Star Community Christian Center, Linden, NJ. The Lord called Roy Home on December 17, 2020.

Beloved husband of Donna Dukes, Loving father of Khatira Williams, Muhaymin Dukes(Brianca), and Najlaa Harris(Antoine); Endearing grandfather of Dasia Cox, Elijah Ciego, Talia Williams, Rafi Dukes; Adored great-grandfather of Jelani Amir Cox. Cherished son of Mary Hampton , (Late, Roy Dukes Sr.); Proud big brother of Curtis (Samantha Dukes), Anthony Dukes, Brenda Dukes, Kenneth(Emma) Dukes, Christina Dukes, Marvin Thomas, Neil Thomas(Rabiyyah) and Tracey Roberts(Stefan)
