Rosemary Bailey

On October 9, 2019, the Lord called Rosemary Bailey home. She was born on October 14, 1947 to the late Rosa Burks and the late Joshua Bailey. Rosemary obtained her education in the public schools of Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Snyder High School in 1968. She attended church at Church of God in Christ Temple in Jersey City, NJ. Rosemary worked at Morgan Stanley and retired after working over 20 years.

Rosemary enjoyed watching mystery movies and was an avid reader. Her favorite author was Stephen King, whenever you would see her, she would have a book with her whether she was traveling on the train or sitting on the beach; one of her favorite places. She loved her candy and ice cream and would be totally satisfied with this over dinner anytime. Rosemary was known to be the first one on the dance floor. She always said “Let’s get this party started”. She also enjoyed traveling and every piece of culture New York City had to offer.

Rosemary loved spending time with her family, especially during her favorite time of the year, Christmas. She loved to decorate her home with holiday trims and wrap presents and would put her “special” touch with pine cones, ribbons and any little thing she could find to make it special.

She also enjoyed beautifying her home by planting trees, shrubs and flowers in the spring and summer time.

Rosemary’s fashion was a statement in and of itself. She wore her hats proudly, her button down shirts, heels and converse sneakers. Her favorite color was yellow like her bright personality and the love she shared. She was truly versatile.

Her smile was infectious and she had a heart of gold and never said “no” to anyone who needed her help. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents Rosa Burks and Joshua Bailey, Olivia and Willie Lud and Daisy Hodnett who raised her. Her brothers Jimmy, Joseph, and Joshua Bailey and her son Larry Lewis (Mookie).

She leaves to cherish her memories, a very devoted son, Randolph Garland Johnson III. Her sisters Virginia Quinn(Joe), Ovetter Bryant (Patrick), and Kathleen Washington (Kitty). Brothers Joseph Zarantonello, Charles Quentin Reid, Derrick Eppendorfer and Tony Scoiners. Eight grandchildren, Yasmine Reese (Rasuan), Daquan Lewis (Carrie), Larry Lewis, Jr., Malik Lewis, Garland Lewis, Caydin Horner, Amelia Lewis and Rosemarie Johnson. She also leaves to mourn Randolph Johnson II, her sons father and long time friend, nieces Antoinette Harrison (Marlon), Rhonda Edwards (Edwin) and Chalynda Maynard (Timothy) and nephew Gregory Bryant (Christina) and a host of relatives and friends.

Rosemary, we love you but God loves you more. Your mission has been accomplished. Job Well Done!
