Robert Simington, Jr. Obituary

The Blessed Life of Robert Edward Simington, Jr.:

On September 7, 1964, the late Robert E. Simington and Linzie McVea was blessed with a healthy bouncy baby boy. They named him Robert Edward Simington, Jr. He was their only child. It was on Sunday June 12th, 2022, that God called Bob home from labor to reward.

Bob grew up in Manhattan, NY and was educated in both public and private schools. He attended Bronx, NY Public School from Kindergarten to third grade. Bob completed his remaining grades (4th to 12th) at Private School, Lorge School. He graduated from high School in 1982. Bob decided to further his knowledge and skills by attending Apex Mechanical School where he successfully attained his certification. Bob continued to enhance his knowledge and skills to include iron work. Again, Bob successfully completed his studies of ironwork at the Iron Construction School in Manhattan, NY. This training led him to be hired by the Local 46 Metallic Lathers. Bob was employed there for over 15 years until he later retired. Bob loved working as an iron worker, and he enjoyed sharing his experiences and many stories.

Bob was a vey joyful and happy man. His best friend and brother (Tim Brown) from another mother, introduced him to his supervisor, Shaharazod (Sherri) Snowden. Bob knew immediately that she was the love of his life. After a briefly dating period Bob and Shaharazod were united in holy matrimony May 21, 2000. Four years later Bob and Shaharazod was blessed with a son, Christopher Robert Simington (March 12, 2004.)

During his childhood summer Bob enjoyed going to summer camp where he learned to swim. He continued during the wintertime and afterschool programs at the YMCA. This enabled Bob to earn his lifeguard certification.

Bob's favorite pastime hobby was cooking. Bob loved to cook enchiladas, oxtails & lamb chops. He loved all kinds of sweets, especially cannoli’s. Bob’s favorite drink was Long Island Iced Tea, and his sister-in-law’s Sangria. Bob changed the name from Sangria to “The Boogie Juice.”

Family was extremely important to Bob. He was a very endearing and loving husband. He loved his wife Shaharazod from NJ to the moon and back. He affectionately gave his wife the nickname “Pony’. It was always Pony, Pony that, Pony this, Pony, Pony, Pony! He worshipped the ground she walked on. He was also an ecstatically proud and happy father. Bob never missed any of Christopher’s baseball games.

Bob was a super sports fan. He tried his best during football season to not miss a Dallas Cowboys game and prayed that they would make it to the Super Bowl! He also loved his New York Knicks—coaching. them from his very own living room screaming at the TV! To maintain, his sanity, Bob took pleasure in scrolling down “The Avenue.”

Robert E. Simington, Jr. departed this life after having a heart attack on Sunday June 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Simington, Sr. and Step-Father, John McShan.
