Raymond McCray’s Journey

Raymond McCray was the youngest of three children born to the late Richard Morris and Amy Wesston on May 6, 1945. He was born and raised in East Over, South Carolina. Raymond departed this life at home on Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was educated in the South Carolina Public School system. He attended Barnwell High School. At an early age, Raymond joined the Red Hill Baptist Church.
He was employed with General Electric for 25 years. Raymond then worked for Pathmark in Edison, NJ for 26 years and retired in 2005. Raymond was a hard working man and always worked overtime hours when asked. He will always be remembered for his kind and humble mannerism.
Raymond met Barbara Anderson, the love of his life. They married on July 15,1978. To this union, they had a set of twins: Raymond and LaVise McCray-Davis.
In 1997, Raymond joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Dr. H. B. Percy. He became a Trustee under Rev. Bellamy. Raymond was an asset to his church chairing programs to help the church financially. Rev. Gary Floyd became his pastor.
Raymond was predeceased by his father Richard Morris, mother Amy Barnwell, brother Joe Speight, brother-n-law Moses Bellamy and son-in-law Bobby Davis.
Raymond’s loving memories will be cherished by his children: Poinsetta Gourdine (Byron), LaVise Timaka McCray-Davis and Raymond Laval McCray (Twins), his sisters: Ruby Bellamy and Rosa Shaw Boyd; grandchildren: Byron Jr., Isaiah, Tiffany, Jordan, Cameron, 5 great-grands: Dustin, Miles, Byron III, Britton, Tristan, Sister-in-laws: Judith Johnson Page (McCarol), Diane Anderson, and Joyce Jeter-Anderson; brothers-in-law: William R. Anderson (Deborah), Michael Anderson and a host of nieces and nephews, many other family members, special friends, and church family.
