Paul Craig Straughn

Paul Craig Straughn was born on July 28, 1967 to June Straughn-Watson and the late Lionel Craig. Paul attended Christ Church High School. As a young kid, Paul was always one step ahead of everyone else. He could always find a way to solve a problem with that big, inviting smile that he had. Formerly of Wotton Christ Church, Paul emigrated to the US at the age of 23, to pursue his dreams to be a designer. He went on to earn a degree in Interior and Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Completion of his degree propelled him into a career that took him to many places across the world.

Paul’s immense talent led him to decorating the White House for Christmas in 1997 and 1998 for former President Bill Clinton, as well as the house of former Vice President Al Gore and his Wife Tippa four years in a row for the Spring, Halloween and Christmas seasons. Paul’s interior design expertise also spearheaded him a guest spot on the Oprah Winfrey Show along with a guest spot on the Today Show. In addition to these accomplishments, Paul also did decorating jobs for celebrities including Whoopi Goldberg and Robert De Niro, to name a few.

Over the last few years, Paul worked for the interior design company Creative Designs Limited, based in Hong Kong. Paul transitioned from this earthly life on August 19th. To celebrate his life, he leaves his mother June Straughn-Watson and stepfather Douglas Watson, of Church Hill, his sisters; Dr. Leslie Craig, Pat, and Gillan (Michelle), Michelle’s daughter Ahlana and her father Thomas, his brothers Kevin, Wayne, Andrew Straughn and his son Ajani and Ian Broomes. He also leaves his aunt Nova Straughn, Uncle Nigel Straughn (and his daughter Gillie), his childhood friends Izella Brown and Maycelle Burke to memorialize his life, along with his cousins Kim Carter and her sons Kevin and Kyle, Phillip Straughn and his wife Vanessa and son Ajari, and Ian Straughn and his wife Sophia and sons Aidan and Ethan. We would also like to acknowledge Jeff, Stephen, Guy, Luc, Raul, Dave, Deon, Tammy, Donohue, Tracy, Nicole, Cecelia, Wayne Norgrove, Sandra Williams, Stephen Williams, and Richard, Roger Manning, as well as The Scantlebury Family, The Titus Family, The Schwarz Family, The Williams Family of Harts Gap, The Husbands Family of Harts Gap, friends of the Wotton and Church Hill communities as well as his Hong Kong and China work families, which include Frank, Jeanene, Amy, Jerry and Tim, to name a few. As you can probably tell by the abundance of individuals named who will be carrying Paul’s memory in their hearts, Paul left a lasting impression on all that he came in contact with. We are all better for knowing him, and he will be truly missed. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
