Lorenza A. Boon

Lorenzo Boon brought his brilliant sunshine into this world on September 15th 1957 and returned to his Lord on April 28th 2019. He was born to Leonard and Marjorie Boon in New York City New York.

In 1963 the family moved to Jersey City New Jersey on Union Street, where Lorenza attended elementary and middle school at public school number 14. Lorenza began his music career at the tender age of 13 when he would bring his friends from Union Street together to arrange and perform do-wop music on the block and other places.

Boon was a military veteran who served his country as he voluntarily enlisted himself in the Navy. Years later he met a well-known musician artist who offered Boon a music career in California. Boon, the artist and 5 others packed up, rented a van and a trailer and drove for 3 days to reach California. While in California he assisted in writing a movie script and its music, along with two of the infamous R&B group members, The 5 Stair Steps. They formed a singing group named Shaquan and later changed its name to Chaz. Boon attended college for music. Chaz signed a record deal with MCA and Their record "We Want To Rock You" hit the charts. While pursuing his music career he worked in the Phoenix Baptist Hospital as a House Tech. He also attended school for tractor trailer driving. He and members of his group created their own record label called "Simmons Brothers Records".

He attended school for Ministry and became an Ordained Minister hence began preaching the gospel. When he returned to New Jersey he founded and became CEO of Rax Records and Films under the umbrella of his Mom's organization, Hope Unlimited Inc. He arranged, directed and produced several movie trailers and songs. Later he founded and became CEO of Rax Society. Boon received several music and film writing awards for his outstanding talent and life achievements. In the music and film making industries, Boon was referred to as a visionary, a self made genius. He became a Pioneer in the industry.

Several years ago Lorenza was afflicted with ALS a debilitating condition. Even while enduring this condition and bedridden, he still continue to write, engineer and produce music and film making. Boon was an inspiration to many of those around him. He maintained his high quality of faith with extraordinary courage. He had a strong will to live with ALS. He would often say with conviction that he "refused to die with ALS, instead with the help of God and his wife, he would learn to LIVE with it!"

For over 6 years, with this condition, his devoted wife Marsha remained by his side, never giving up, never questioning God and determined to be the life-link to her husband and she believed God chose her to do that. Left to mourn Lorenza's loss is his devoted wife Marsha, his loving mother Marjorie Boon and her husband Pastor Issac, his daughters Christy, Tara, Tekia, Kyonne and Kory, his son Hasan who preceded him in death, His sons who are in mourning are Lorenza Jr, Kevon and Darius. His siblings, 4 siblings preceded him in death are Leonard, Suez Somali, Antoine and Conda. His surviving siblings are Zaimah and her husband Imam Shakur, Angelina, Dreena and her husband Tony Hayward, Tekia, and Jamil. Also mourning his loss is 19 grandchildren, several great grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and close friends who he considered to be his family.
