On Wednesday, March 11th 2020 an angel took Joyce Ann Massey by the hand and led her to her final rest to suffer no more.

 

Joyce’s journey began on January 11, 1953 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina born to Queen Elizabeth Victoria Freshwater-White and George Joshua White, Sr. She was the oldest of 4 children.

She attended Jersey City Public School #14 and graduated from Henry Snyder High School.

She met and married Ronald J. Massey Sr. on February 14th 1980. From this union they had and raised six beautiful children.

Joyce worked for the United States Post Office NJI & BMC as a Clerk, she was a fashion model and also worked at the video store. Joyce enjoyed life, she loved arts and crafts, getting dressed up, being a DIVA, singing and working with the young people. She was a member of Gospel Temple now known as Porter Memorial Church of God in Christ. Joyce was the advisor of the Porter Memorial Praise Angels. She also loved her Annual Service of Women in Red along with loving her Porter Memorial Church Family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents George J. White Sr. and Queen Elizabeth Victoria Freshwater-White, her husband Ronald J. Massey SR. son Ronald J. Massey Jr. and granddaughter Layla Monet.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, her children Demond Reed, Rashawn Reed (Janice) of Middletown, NY. Angela Massey, Stephanie Massey, Tacora Chambers, Tashaka Massey and her Dog Trixie Massey. One sister Lena L. White-Moore (Carleton), two brothers George J. White Jr. (Lillian) and  Aaron S. White (Troylene) Three aunts Dorothy Freshwater-Simpson  of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Juanita White of East Orange NJ and Ethel Colbert of Jersey City, NJ. Two God sisters Rosa Overton and Stacey Simmons; God brother Kenneth Grant.   She also leaves to mourn 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Special thanks to her Spiritual Mother, Mother Ruth E. Green.
