John Robert Hodges, affectionately known as "Bob" or "Bobby" was born on
May 14, 1950, in Jersey City, NJ to the late John Robert Hodges (Sr.) and Florida Lee Hampton. John was called home and gained his wings on May 23, 2023.
Bob attended Jersey City Public School System, where he graduated from Lincoln High School and then enrolled into Montclair University. In 1968 he entered into the Military and served in the US Navy.
Bob first entered the work for force at the US Postal service and upon leaving he started his career at NJ Bell (Verizon) where he retired in 2004.
After retirement he relocated to Estill, South Carolina for a life of leisure.
Bob left his indelible mark on so many of those that knew him. He was full of wisdom and lived his life to the fullest. Bob adored his grandchildren, and his daughter was his world. His most enjoyable moments were teaching others, taking videos of his family while making memories, listening to oldies but goodies, and telling ole school jokes. Some of his other interests included camping, canoeing, animals, crossword puzzles, watching National Geographic/movies and playing chess. 2 of his favorite sayings were "Don't be stupid" & "Happiness is the hardest thing to find and it doesn't cost a dime". Even with a heart gold, Bob had no reservation with calling a spade a spade!! He was known for making his favorite dishes for his family. Soul Tacos and Spaghetti & meatball.
John is preceded in death by his brother Stuart Coleman, brother John Robert Hodges (111), sister-n-law Mary Dolores Morgan.
John leaves to cherish his memory: His one & only beloved daughter Tori Lashawn Carter (Jason),
Grandsons: Javon Terrell Hodges, Jacari Keyshawn Carter
Soulmate: Irene Frazier, bonus son Ivan Frazier, bonus granddaughter Destiny Tillman
Stepmom: Mae McCall Hodges
Siblings: Shari Coleman (Jerry), Venita Bengazi, Patricia Hamilton, Andrea Branson (Jeffrey), Raymond Anthony Hodges (Mildred), Dolores Glass, Mae Hodges Bryant
Former spouse: Lorraine Pelzer Hodges, Sister N Laws: Marjorie Barnes, Lori Wilson, brother n Henry Pelzer (jr.)
