The Obituary
Just a little about me…
I was born Joan Deloris Cummings on December 31, 1940, in Rocky Mount North Carolina to the late great Walter Boston and Louise Richards. In 1952, my mother and I moved to New York City where I was raised with my Uncle Harry Bell and Rosily Bell. I went through the New York City school system. Almost 4 years later when I was just 17 years young, I met the love of my life, my husband Willie James Cummings in 1957.
I devoted 30 years of service as supervisor at Pathmark Coordination where, I retired. I enjoyed traveling to various destinations around the world and spending time with my family and loved ones. I was active member of various block associations, where I assisted and supported many families.
I became a member of a beautiful congregation of New Paradise Baptist church in 1997, under pastorate of the late Rev. Wilbert Adams Pastor, and Rev. Colman. I later transitioned to Zion Shadow Baptiste Church in 2014, under pastorate of Rev. Carl A. Lech where I served as a deaconess. I have proudly served God as deaconess and an usher for over 35 years, until the lord called me home.
Left to cherish my memories are my Stepmother Mae Walker, My three siblings, William Daniel Richards, Williams James Boston, Brenda Sulmer. My sisters in-law Brenda and Melinda Cummings. My children who are my pride and joy’s Jackie, Loray, Verna Lee, Marvin, Sharon, Harold, and Deborah Delores Cummings. I also leave behind the best grandchildren anyone could ever have Latisha, Reginald Jr., Ronald Jr., Romel, Dawn, June, Sarita, Denett, the late Ronnell, Infinite, Ashely, Shakirah, Marvin Jr., Darius, Rondell, Skyla, Karizma, and Janaya (baby). I also leave behind my most prized possessions who are my great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous loved ones.
