Ismael Rodriguez Jr.
June 1, 1954 – June 30, 2025
Ismael Rodriguez Jr., affectionately known as “Izzy” and later lovingly called “Izzo,” passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Manhattan, New York, Ismael was a longtime resident of Jersey City before settling in West New York, where he spent his final years.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Rodriguez; his loving daughters, Shanita, Brunilda, and Stephanie; his son-in-law, Samuel Torres; proud grandfather to Savannah and Nathaniel; his siblings, Juana and Victor Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as Tío Puri.
Ismael had a deep love for people and connection. He worked at Legend Barbershop for years and especially enjoyed spending time there with co-workers who became family, sharing countless laughs and memories. He loved listening to music and was always ready to dance with his signature two-step, often lighting up the barbershop with his energy and rhythm. Ismael had a special love for a fresh pair of white Nike Air Force sneakers, which perfectly matched his unique style.
Known for his warm personality and easygoing nature, Ismael’s unforgettable sense of humor made him a joy to be around. His favorite saying, “What’s up, kid?” was a greeting that brought smiles to everyone he met.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
