Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) was born to Robert Lee and Thelma Fykes on November 27, 1936, in Barnwell, South Carolina. Due to the untimely passing of Thelma Fykes, Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) was raised by her grandmother Carrie Myers. She was one of four children, Richard Fykes and was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Fykes, and sister Rachel M. Green (Fykes).
On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) transitioned from earth to glory.
Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) graduated from Barnwell Elementary public school, Butler High school, and continued her college education at Howard Barnwell in South Carolina. After working at Unimark in Bayonne, NJ until retirement she continued her education later in life receiving her certificate in child development.
Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) was married to the late Ernest Myers Jr., and was blessed with ten children Deacon Ronald L. (Melvis) Fykes, Pastor Lady Jacqueline L. (Henderson) Myers, Apostle Christopher (Chauncey) J. Russell Sr., Min Darren Myers, Karen (Philip) Henry and preceded in death by daughters, Yvonne Myers, Evangelist Ernestine Y. Myers, Pastor Brazetta L. Myers, Prophetess Evangelist Sharon L. Myers Watson, and son, Pastor Ernest Myers III.
Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) has served diligently in ministry and has worn many hats (both literally and figuratively). She received salvation under the leadership of Reverend Scotland Bailey (Deliverance Temple in Jersey City, NJ). She later joined the Church of God in Christ Temple in Jersey City, NJ, under the late Dr. Randolph D. Johnson. In the early days of ministry, then sister Irma Myers was trained as a Junior Missionary, eventually becoming President of the Junior Missionary board. Later, the Lord called her to work under the late Bishop Arnold Z. Hudson, where she served at Hudson Temple in Brooklyn, NY, as a Missionary, Evangelist, Pastor's Aid, prayer warrior, and Mother's board. Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) worked in any needed capacity. For many years. After faithfully serving, the Lord called her son-in-law, the late Pastor Louis Henderson III, and First Lady Jacqueline L. Henderson to New Beginning Ministries, where she served as the Mother of the church, Pastors Aid, and prayer warrior. She also supported her Pastor in working with The NJ Fellowship under the leadership of the late Overseer Nathaniel Screven Sr. As years went on, her son, Apostle Christopher and Chauncey Russell, opened their ministry, and she served as the church mother of Victory Tabernacle, Memphis, Tennessee. She also served under her oldest grandson, Pastor Louis Henderson IV, who also pastored at New Beginning Ministries after the passing of the late Pastor Louis Henderson III. Later, Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) daughter Pastor Lady Jacqueline L. Henderson continued the legacy as Pastor of New Beginning Ministries/Glory Fire Temple, where she continued to serve. In supporting leadership as a part of the Heritage Conference of Churches under Presiding Bishop Donald S. Hudson. God has used her experiences, teachings, and anointing to develop disciples to be saved and equipped to fulfill God's divine purpose in their lives. Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) was a mighty woman of prayer, always available to share an encouraging word and demonstrate strong support. She always reminded us to keep God first. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 27:1 (KJV) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) leaves to cherish her children Deacon Ronald (Melvis) Fykes, Pastor Lady Jacqueline L. Myers Henderson, Apostle Christopher J. (Chauncey) Russell Sr, Min Darren Myers, Karen (Philip) Henry, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, god-children, loving relatives, in-laws, friends, and church family.
Evangelist (Mother) Irma L. Myers (Fykes) will never be forgotten and always remembered by “Don’t Forget GOD”.
