Elder Roscoe Freeman Obituary


Roscoe Freeman was born on March 20, 1958 to Precious (Patterson) Freeman and the late Roger J. Freeman at the Margaret Hayes hospital in Jersey City, NJ. He made his transition to his heavenly home, on December 21, 2021.
 
Roscoe, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, graduated from P.S. 22 Class of 1972, Lincoln High School, band member Class of 1976. Thereafter, He joined the United States Army, where he served and was honorably discharged in 1989 as a Sergeant. Soon after his service in the Army, he proposed to and married his high school crush Mary (Niecey)  L. Hutchinson.
 
Together they had five beautiful children and raised them in their loving home on Dwight Street. Roscoe was a proud Dad and devoted husband. He made it his duty to provide the best for his family, sometimes working two jobs including overnight just to make sure the holidays and birthdays were festive. He sent all of his children to the very best of private schools.
 
Roscoe was an ordained Elder at the Universal Full Gospel Church where he was a member for 22 years. As a member he took on various titles: SuperIntendent and Trustee. Roscoe loved people and was always willing to mentor, preach, or teach. Anything to be of service and to build God’s Kingdom. HisThanksgivings were dedicated to feeding the homeless.  
 
Roscoe worked at various jobs throughout his lifetime; his last job was a Counselor at C-Line Community Outreach Services. Roscoe was an overachiever and collected several awards, certificates and acknowledgements throughout his life-time. Some of his favorite things to do were to study the Bible, spend time with his grandchildren, order on-line gifts for his wife and mother, listen to and watch various things on YouTube, grow vegetable seedlings and chat on Facebook with his family near and far, most of whom he called his “FAVORITE”.
 
Roscoe was preceded in death by his father Roger  J. Freeman, mother-in-law, Pauline Hutchinson, sister Linda Freeman and two brothers John (John-John) Freeman, Roger (Junior) Freeman, three brother-in-laws Jeffery Walker (Niheem V. Allah of Justice Cee) Samuel (Sammy) Hutchinson, Pernell Hutchinson.
 
Roscoe leaves behind to cherish his legacy his mother Precious (Patterson) Young, wife Mary L.Freeman, Children Robert N. Council-Freeman, Jermane R. Freeman, Christina L. Freeman, Marcus J. Freeman, Matthew V. Freeman and Eleven Grandchildren, Siblings Carolyn Freeman, Victor Freeman, Rose Freeman of San Saba, Texas, three brother-in-laws Mark and Paul Felix, David Fuller, four sister-in-laws Sandy Fuller, Sanita Walker, Barba (Bobby) Mouzon, Helene Hutchinson, Aunt, Mary Jane Smith spouse Alfred (Ale) Smith, of Plainfield, NJ, Uncle Robert (Red) Freeman of Hallsboro, NC and a large host of godchildren, “The Favorites” his nieces and nephews along with spiritual children,The Universal Full Gospel Church Family, relatives and many friends who will cherish his loving spirit and memories forever.
