Lydia A.Davis was born on May, 14, 1944, to Levi Sr. and Lydia Young in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She attended the Orange burg school system. After some time, Lydia relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey.
Lydia was a devoted Mother of 11 and raised 5 grandchildren as her own. Lydia devoted her time to her family and community. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some would say she was the Mother of many nations.
Lydia loved God. Lydia always had her bible in hand. She loved reading and preaching the word. She enjoyed listening to the preachers on the radio and television. She enjoyed watching Texas Walker Ranger. Her favorite quote was “Get him Walker, Get him.” Her favorite song was Heavy Load by the Mighty Clouds of Joy.
Lydia was ordained as an Elder in 2007, under Caring Hearts Outreach Ministries; under the Pastorate Titus Hines Sr. Than later ordained as Pastor in August 2011 under Bishop Anthony Cherry.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Levi and Lydia Young, her husband James Davis, her sister Phillistene Young Kohn, her brothers Levi Jr, Nolan, Leroy, Robert and Joseph Young, her daughters Linda Wheeler, Brenda Kaye and Florence Davis.
Lydia leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, two daughters Regina and Mary A. Davis, 11 sons, Ricky, Samuel, James, Timothy, Christopher, Jehosaphat, Travis W., Michael A., Rickey L., Al’Cee L., Marcus T. Davis, 4 sisters, Emma J. Brown, Lori Johnson-Felkes, Roxanne Bailey and Mary Jane Young, 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
