In Loving Memory of Dolores Mae Willis

Dolores Mae Willis, a cherished Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm to eternal life on September 4, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Dolores was born on January 29, 1950, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Lawrence and Nannie Nelson. She was the second eldest among her four siblings and was preceded in death by her Son, Calvin Willis Jr., Brother,  Roy Merritte, Granddaughter, Syreena Lacewell and Husband, Calvin L. Willis Sr.

Dolores received her early education in the Jersey City public school system and attended Ferris High School, in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 1966, she met and married Calvin L. Willis, embarking on a new life together in Jersey City.

During her childhood, Dolores attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she displayed her passion for music, dancing, and singing by leading the mass choir at the tender age of 9. It was during this time that she embraced Jesus Christ.

Dolores dedicated her professional life as an LPN at Christ Hospital and served as a devoted caregiver to her children and grandchildren throughout her life.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to be held in the hearts of her surviving family members.  Children, Rodina Edwards, Son-in-law Vernon Edwards, Denise Willis, Alberta Adams, Son-in-law David Adams, Dolores Barrow, Son-in-law, Ricardo Barrow, Darrel Willis, Daughter-in-law, Taneisha Willis, Thurman Thorpe, Daughter-in-law. Shadonna Jackson, Yashica Willis, Tyeshia Willis, Brother, Lawrence Nelson, Sister, Deborah Muhammad, Brother-in-law James Muhammad, dear beloved childhood friends, Carol and Ernest Poindexter, along with 22 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of dear friends.
