It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael John Lupkovich, 56, of
Harrison, New Jersey. Michael passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at St. Michael’s
Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Kearny, New Jersey on January 26, 1968 he was the son of the late William G. Lupkovich
and Maureen Lupkovich. Michael is a Harrison native and leaves behind a legacy that will be
cherished by all who knew him. Michael was a beacon of energy and enthusiasm, known for his
remarkable talent as a running back on the Harrison Blue Tide football team. His exceptional
skill and determination on the field earned him accolades and admiration, making him a
standout player and a source of inspiration to his teammates and fans alike.
Michael’s career began as a correctional officer and most recently served as a sheriff’s officer in
Hudson County. His long-standing career in law enforcement was marked by bravery and a
steadfast commitment to protecting and serving the community, embodying the very best of
the profession. Michael leaves behind incredible friends, colleagues, and citizens who will
forever remember their dedication and service.
Michael is survived by his mother Maureen Lupkovich; his wife Linda, and their two children:
John Michael and Michelle Lupkovich, and his daughter Alicia; his brother William, and his son
William; his brother John, and his sister-in-law Lisa and their children: John, Matthew, Michael
and Daniel; his sister Cindy, and brother-in-law Mickey and their children; his sister Theresa,
and her children: Jessica and Deanna. Michael is predeceased by his father William Lupkovich.
A memorial service to honor Michael’s life will be held on Sunday, 8/25 from 2-6pm at The
Family Funeral Home, 445 Monmouth St, Jersey City, NJ. On Monday, 8/26 final blessings will
be at the funeral home from 9-9:30am followed by a drive by the Hudson County Courthouse
for a final salute. After the salute, mass service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge
