Deacon Arthur Curtis III Obituary

Arthur Higgins Curtis III was born March 23, 1947 in Durham , North Carolina to the late Lillie Curtis Higgins and  the late Arthur Higgins Jr. He was one of 10 siblings . Arthur was educated in the North Carolina school System.  

Arthur traveled to Jersey City in 1969  to seek employment opportunities. He worked for the US Postal Service of Jersey City,, Owens-Illinois and White Rose Frozen Food Carteret, NJ from where he retired . Arthur was known to be a hard and dedicated worker. Often arriving one hour early because he was  punctual and wanted to relax and unwind before he started his shift. Arthur loved his family and would always protect and provide . He sometimes worked two jobs to put his daughters through college. His favorite quote was “We are family” when describing why . Arthur had a great sense of humor that would illuminate anyroom . He had a a laugh that would bellow out and uplift everyone . You rarely saw him without a smile or his nervous grin when he spoke . He loved to tell stories and to make people laugh . He enjoyed family gatherings and especially Holidays .  

In 1971 Arthur met the love of his life Sadie M. Curtis , Fort Myers , Fl in Jersey City where they fell in love.  The two have been united for 50 years . They loved each other and did everything together. You would rarely hear someone say one name without the other name . They were a team .

Arthur is preceded on his journey to glory by his parents Arthur Higgins Jr.  and Lillie Curtis Higgins . His two sisters Barbara Mayo , Fayetteville, NC , Jacqueline McDonald Durham, NC and one brother Alfred Higgins .

Arthur Curtis was a member of Mountain Top COGIC where he served as a Deacon for many years and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

Arthur leaves to mourn his precious wife Sadie M. Curtis, his Aunt Carolyn Morrow, Aunt Daisy Ashford and his loving children : Angela Dupar (Darnell) Silver Springs ,Md ,Cheryl Hunter ( Pastor Anthony) , Dayton, NJ  , Sheila Smith deceased. (Israel Sr.) , Jersey City, NJ , Debra Malone ( Tywone) Jamesburg, New Jersey . HIs siblings Horace Higgins , Los Angeles, Ca. , Fayetteville, NC . Joyce Smith , Carolyn McGirt, Linda Fae Higgins, Lanie Reed (Glen)  Muriel Higgins all from Durham, NC . 12 Grand Kids: Charlya, Ebony , Andrell (Allen), Amber, Tyra, Darnell II, Tywone Jr., Israel Jr., Tabatha, Akeem, Rasheed and Christopher. 9 Great Grandkids: Tatyana, Nevaeh, Patrick, Jamil, Aniyla, Serenity, Logan, Chyann, Aanai. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and his Mountain Top church family.
