Obituary Beloved Corey Damon Spann , the 7th child, born on March 1, 1984, in Freehold, NJ , to the late Isaac and Barbara Spann. Corey departed this earth on February 2, 2023. Do not cry; instead “SMILE” and celebrate the presence he once was.
Corey attended the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District, where he graduated from Matawan Regional High School in 2002. He was athletic, having a natural born gift and talent playing football for pop warner and all throughout school, and always a star all-around player on the field, a Spann Legacy. Corey was also a model for some time, with an infectious smile and baby face, and was incredibly fashionable, always coordinating his outfits. He loved to shop for clothes, hats, jewelry, and sneakers. After his dream of playing college football was deferred, due to a collar bone and shoulder injury, Corey diligently trained in aspiration of becoming a boxer. Shortly thereafter, Corey enrolled in Brookdale College for business, then later deciding to go to Diesel Engine School at Lincoln Tech instead. Being such a driven and focused young man, Corey decided to put a halt to his education for some time to enter the workforce.
Corey was determined to be successful in life and began working at an early age to accomplish this. He wasn’t afraid of hard work, and this was evident as he had many jobs. Corey worked for a landscaping company, to then become employed at UPS for some years. Wanting to learn different skillsets, he was employed by Gerdau Steel Mill, which catapulted his talent for operating machinery. He also worked at IFF, SRG, and until his demise he was actively employed at Nestle.
Corey loved his family and would do anything for them. To know Corey was to love him, as there was no grey area. He was an honest soul and always stood for what he believed, as many already know. If he wanted something, no matter what it was, he would set his mind to it and execute it with ease.
Corey and his longtime girlfriend, Robyn, had two children, Aspyn and Promyse. He worked tirelessly to provide for them, as they were, in his words, his reason for living. Those adorable little girls would make him glow and put that beautiful smile on his face, and he was the proudest dad ever. His daughters were his world, and they loved their “daddy”. Corey, being the provider that he was, later brought a home to raise his children with Robyn. After working many long hours, he would be sure to make time for his family and upkeep of his home. He would often host gatherings where he made the “best grilled asparagus”. In his spare time, you would find him watching football, cheering for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, working on one of his cars, or just relaxing if he could sit down long enough. Corey was such a big cuddly bear that you couldn’t help but gravitate to, as he had such an energy about him. A very quiet and private person, but if you were blessed to get to know him, you knew a true angel!
Corey was predeceased in death by his parents Isaac and Barbara Spann. He leaves cherish his memory, his two daughters, Aspyn and Promyse. His siblings Alison, Iris, Ramute(Keith), Erica, Yakenya, Isaac Jr.(Elizabeth), Tyrone, Terrill. Companion Robyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be sorely missed
