Christopher Johnson Obituary

Christopher Antonio Johnson Sr. is the first born and only son of James and Mary Johnson. He was born November 21, 1961 in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Big Chris or Cee Jay as he was affectionately called by family and friends started his early years as the only brother to 6 sisters. He grew up in Jersey City and lived in CWP. No matter where he went in life, he always returned to his roots and showed love. As the only son he had to make sure his sisters were taken care of but first he had to make sure he toughened them up. A quick gut punch to keep them on their toes always did the trick. As a child he attended PS 40 before being transferred to PS 20 in Jersey City. He also attended Henry Snyder High School.

Chris started driving trucks at the age of 16 and was taught by his father. He absolutely loved it and went to trucking school to obtain his CDL’s and the rest is history. Being in a truck gave him a sense of purpose, passion and he was determined to be successful in his career by any means. He gave his life to God as a member of Faith Temple under Elder Lewis Collier in 1980. At the tender age of 19 he married love of his life Martha Howell on September 27, 1980. Through this covenant, they welcomed 4 beautiful daughters.

Throughout his life journey, he was able to travel the world and meet many people including Lisa Gosa with whom he parented and fathered 4 amazing children and also inherited another extended family.

Chris is known for being the one that everyone can depend on. He was confident, loyal, swaggy, jovial and absolutely loved to have a good time. Most importantly, he loved his family and his friends and would do anything for anyone even if it meant going to the extreme.

He passed away peacefully at Bayonne Medical Center in Bayonne NJ and was surrounded by the love of his father, mother and sisters on May 23, 2021 at the young age of 59.

There are several things that Chris has taught us but the main thing he taught us was how to stick together as a family. His passing has bought so many people together, in a common love  that could have possibly taken even more years to do. Now that we are together let’s be sure that we stay together, because one thing we all knew was that HE WAS NOT BEAT!!! YA HEARD???
