Arnold Garrett was born on May 10, 1953 in Whitehall, South Carolina to Edgar and Jerona Garrett. Arnold affectionately received the nickname "Blinky" due to being born blind and remaining in the hospital until the age of 5 years old.
Edgar and Jerona relocated their family to New Jersey in 1958. There Arnold attended the New Jersey Public School System. He later went on to marry Jill Sutton in 1976 where they went on to have 3 daughters and 2 bonus children. Arnold worked as a supervisor at Sears and Roebuck. He retired as a truck driver from Burlington Coat Factory.
Old man was what he was known as by the young men he enjoyed mentoring. He would share life experiences, wisdom, and knowledge with such ones. His favorite pass time was hanging out with the boys on the Junction. He also loved road trips and playing cards. Arnold Garret was known by many and will be greatly missed by family and friends. On Wednesday, October 11, 2023 he entered into eternal rest.
Arnold is predeceased in death by Arnold Garrett Jr. known as "Little Arnold" his son, brother Richard Garrett, mother Jerona Garrett, and father Edgar Garrett Sr.
Arnold leaves his memories to children Monik Sutton, Chanti Garrett, Shakima Smith, bonus children Caroline Neal Sutton, and Shavonne Turner Sutton. 7 Grandchildren Bryce Smith, Justin Leo, Brennen Smith, Cierra Smith, Alise Smith, Braelynn Smith and 1 Great Grandchild Greyson Garrett. Siblings: Edgar Garrett Jr. (Roberta) of Whitehall, SC, Barbara Ann Garret, Beverly Garrett Harmon of Jersey City, NJ, Carol George of Claymont, DE, Bernard Garrett (Evelyn) of Jersey City, NJ, Michael, Patricia, Thomas Garrett of Whitehall, SC, Luis Brown of Walterboro, SC and a host of other relatives and friends
