Allene Cooper Galbreath was born November5, 1938 in Lumberton, North Carolina to the late Frederick Douglas Cooper, Sr. & Jetta Lee Floyd Cooper. She was the third of twelve children.
She departed this life on November 14, 2024 at the Phoenix Rehabilitation Center in Brooklyn, New York. She was educated in the public schools of Robeson County. She graduated from Hilly Branch High School, Lumberton, North Carolina, class of 1957. She continued her education at Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina. While at Livingstone, Allene decided to relocate to New York to pursue a career as a domestic worker. After living in New York she met the love of her life, Roosevelt Galbreath. They were married and had three sons. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York. She loved her church and attended until her health declined.
Allene loved to shop, Macy’s was one of her favorite department stores. She loved cheesecake, specifically from Junior’s Cheesecake. The World’s most fabulous cheesecake. Allene also loved traveling and spending time with family.
Allene was preceded in death by her husband Roosevelt Galbreath; sons: Dwight, Jeffrey, and Garry; brothers: Bill Curtis, Frederick Douglas Jr. , Charles Samuel Sr. , sisters: Dorothy Lee and Annie Aretha(Nokie); grandson: Javonte
She leaves to cherish her memories: Willie James(Edna B.), JoAnn, Neal, Cynthia, Shirley, and Gregory(Vanzella) ; grandson: Jaheim; two great grands: Noah and Zaharra; Brother in law: Clyde; Sister in law: Bernell. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
