Tanya Renee Aikens

Tanya Renee Aikens was born on May 20, 1974 to Mark Harris  and Betty Jean Aikens, in Brooklyn, New York. She entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2018. Tanya was educated in the Newark, New Jersey school system. She was always a bright child, and wise far beyond her years. Tanya, was an honest, kind, thoughtful, caring, loving, smart, profound, funny, generous and amazing daughter, mother, sister, cousin and friend, who had a deep love and compassion for people. She wanted to dedicate her life to helping others as a profession. Her smile could warm and light up a room, and her laugh was infectious and could melt the hearts of those who were around  her, always bubbly and  full of life. She found humor in so many things that life presented, and loved sharing the humor. On August 22, 1989, Tanya gave birth to a beautiful, bouncing baby boy, Taheed Davere McClain. Although she was a young mother, she was eager to be the best mother she could be. And, with the help of her mom, father and stepmother, she was able to be just that. Taheed was her world and everything she did was geared toward making sure he had the absolute best and was very well taken care of. Despite many challenges, Tanya never complained and she never ever gave up. She possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds. She always managed to smile through it all,  no matter what fear, anxiety or doubt she may have felt on the inside. She wanted everyone to be sure that things would work out. She gave us all courage and hope and reminded us of how precious life is. Tanya’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her, know that the quality of her life far exceeds the amount of time we had her in ours. We remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. And although we will miss her every day, especially her winning smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends, she will forever remain in our hearts. Tanya would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call that she couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. But this appointment, comes with a huge bonus,  a reunion with family and friends she hasn’t seen in a long time. Tanya was preceded in death, by her mother, Betty Jean Aikens, her father, Mark Harris, and she is survived by her loving son, Taheed Davere McClain, of Bensalem, Pa. She leaves to cherish her beloved memory loving and caring Uncles, Hugh & Yvonne Phillips, William &  Judy Aikens, Ashon &  Sherron Anderson; Aunt, Diane Phillips; sisters, Hazel Harris of Virginia and Jackie Roberts of NY; brothers Tyrone Roberts, Charles Roberts, Timothy Mincey, Jaquan Harris, and Nicholas Harris; and Step-mother, Jessica Harris; She also leaves a host of caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
