Mother Beatrice Evans

Beatrice "Sister" (Wilson) Evans was born in Williston, SC on June 19th, 1930. She was the second of nine children born to the late Jeff and Carrie (Gardner) Wilson. 
 
     Growing up, "Sister" worked hard in the fields while attending to the needs of her Grandparents and younger siblings. In 1954 she relocated to Jersey City, NJ with her mother and four children, to join the rest of her family.  
 
     A few years later she found work at Central Laundry, where she met the love of her life the late Robert Evans Sr. The two were wed in February of 1958 and to this union six children were born. In 1972, Beatrice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while attending Tabernacle Temple COGIC.
 
     Throughout her lifetime, "Sister" enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very outgoing and treated everyone like family. She often opened her home to others because no one was a "stranger" in her eyes. She also had a green thumb, planting different kind of flowers and plants around her house. If you ever wanted to find "Suh" (a nickname birthed by the younger Wilson and Evan generation) she could surely be found on her porch with her dogs. Sister's sparkling, bubbly and humorous personality will be missed by all.  
 
     On March 2, 2019, Beatrice Evans departed her earthly dwellings, surrounded by family. During the latter part of her life's journey, Beatrice was cared for by her devoted children along with the aid of her sister Carrie "Bet".  Beatrice is proceeded in death by her parents Jeff and Carrie (Gardner) Wilson; her husband Robert Evans Sr.; three (3) sons: Joe Lewis, Thomas "Tony" Lee and Jeffrey Evans; two (2) brothers: John and Willie Wilson; and two (2) sisters: Inez Martin and Eartha Smith.  
 
     Beatrice leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy, two (2) daughters: Carrie (Javon) Allen and Roberta (Manuel) Marcellus; six (6) sons: Ruben and John Wilson, Robert Lee, Gary (Valerie) and Curtis (Karla) Evans, as well as *Walik Wilson; five (5) sisters: Bertha Gleaton, Julia Wilson, Alma Wilson, Carrie "Bet" Wilson, and Lessie Mae (Eddie) Gatson; twenty-two (22)* grandchildren; thirty-one (31) great-grandchildren; four (4) great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  *honorary
